The piano you can play anytime without disturbing anyone - the Kawai K500 ATX3 upright piano incorporates an acoustic muting feature with powerful digital audio components, allowing pianists to continue enjoying the distinctive feeling of a traditional piano, while listening discretely using private headphones.

The evolving sound engine, quality felt in silence

When muted, ATX3 instruments utilize a high quality digital sound engine, which reproduces the sound of the internationally recognized Shigeru Kawai SK-EX concert grand piano.

This piano-specific SK-EX Rendering sound engine combines 88-key multi-channel sampling and advanced modelling technology to deliver the most realistic grand piano sound possible, with effects that allow pianists to simulate the reverb and ambience of performing in a concert hall. In addition, ATX3 instruments also include a selection of alternative piano sounds, including the EX full concert and SK-5 mid-sized grand, and a variety of other instruments such as church organ and strings.

Natural, acoustic piano touch '“ even when muted

ATX3 instruments incorporate Kawai'™s advanced IHSS technology, utilizing contact-less optical sensors to accurately capture the subtle movements of the action hammers. This allows the full range of expression from delicate pianissimo to thunderous fortissimo to be performed with fluency, and for the natural touch of the piano to be maintained, even when the acoustic sound is muted.

Convenient, buttonless operation

ATX3 instruments feature a color LCD touchscreen display discretely embedded within the left cheekblock, eliminating rows of buttons from the control panel, and maintaining the traditional upright piano appearance of the instrument. The touchscreen'™s intuitive design allows pianists to change sounds, adjust settings, and access convenient features such as the built-in metronome and song recorder simply by tapping or swiping the display. The touchpanel can be cleaned with a damp cloth.

High-quality headphones included

ATX3 instruments include a pair of Kawai's SH-9 headphones, allowing pianists to enjoy the feeling of playing the piano even when the acoustic sound is muted. These headphones have also been engineered for comfort, to prevent ear fatigue when practicing for extended periods of time.
