Welmar upright pianos are renowned for their rich, warm tone and solid craftsmanship. Made in Clapham by Maxwell, Whelpdale & Codd (MWC) primarily during the mid-20th century. Built with high-quality materials and traditional techniques, Welmar uprights are well-regarded among musicians and piano technicians alike, making them a popular choice for both home use and music education.

MWC were also the importers of the iconic 'Bluthner' pianos. It is said that elements of the Bluthner design technology was incorporated into their own range of upright pianos that came to be known as Welmar.
