The Trevor James 10X Straight and Curved Headed Flute is great for young students. The TJ10x comes with both a curved and straight head, making it the best choice of investment for the smaller player as they can start with the curved head and progress to the straight head with no interruptions. Each flute is manufactured and finally hand-set up in the UK in one of Trevor James' technical workshops.

Advanced Curved Headjoint Features

The Trevor James 10X has a larger bore, making the instrument freer blowing. This quality allows students to produce a rich tone quicker than ever. This also makes achieving a full range of notes very easy in comparison to many other student flutes on the market.

The headjoint has a classy silver plated finish, which gives a bright and controlled sound. This Trevor James TJ10X flute comes with a curved headjoint, which helps younger students to reach all the keys easily and comfortably. As well as that, a straight head has also been included so players won't need to replace the instrument when they grow.

Silver-Plated Headjoint

What makes the Trevor James 10x flutes perfect for students is an exclusively designed lip plate which rises slightly toward the centre. This gives the new, or returning player, the benefit of having an immediate and free blowing sound, especially in the lower octave.

The lower notes are notoriously hard for the new player as it involves most if not all keys being depressed, so the air stream is at times, is right down at the bottom end of the flute. This ‘Shaped’ lip, - unique to the Trevor James TJ10x - opens up the lower register and gives a huge advantage over other student flutes because it’s not only easier to play in general, but it’s actually easier to get a great tone too.

The headjoint is most important part of the flute as it’s where the sound originates. So a nice, shiny new instrument with a sub-standard headjoint will have substandard playability, and this is ever more true when the player is new to the instrument.

The experts at Trevor James have worked extremely hard to create the very best headjoint for our flutes, and in particular those that aid students in getting the very best start.

Fine care and attention has been implemented in the manufacturing of these flutes. All the fittings have a tight fitting assembly, which gives a positive feel for any student starting out. Double skinned pads give an extra airtight seal over the holes, so there's no chance of leaking air. As opposed to cork, the flute uses felt underneath the tail arms to give a longer lasting design.

Stunning, Triple Plated Silver Finish

The Trevor James 10X flute has three layers of finish, which is a unique design to the TJ brand. Firstly, a layer of flash copper coating is applied to the instrument which is followed by two more layers of silver plating. This gives great durability to the instrument and means that the finish will last much longer than a standard student flute.

Having a flute that is ready to play is crucial, it can cost time at lessons or even worse costly repairs as woodwind instruments have intricate mechanisms. To ensure your instrument arrives in the very best condition, every flute will have gone an exhaustive and unique technical quality control procedure in the UK. Each flute is set-up by one of the Trevor James team of UK based flute specialist technicians.

We at Millers then check the instrument prior to despatch, ensuring everything so when you receive your instrument it is ready to play.
