The PX-870's 'Grand Piano' sound is based off of Steinway & Sons D274; the most popular concert instrument in the world. The improved four-speaker setup combines with the AiR Sound Source to give better spatial perception of the piano.

The Tri-Sensor II keyboard action is heavier than competing instruments; more force is required to play loudly, something which teachers will often recommend to their students to help build dexterity more quickly.
