The Eastman Concertante Cello represents a significant leap forward for cellists ready to move beyond student-level instruments and is one of our favourite instruments at this price point. Crafted for intermediate to professional musicians, this cello delivers the tonal refinement and playability demanded by advancing players and those pursuing serious study or performance. Its hand-carved spruce and maple body, combined with a hand-applied spirit varnish, produces a voice with clarity and projection that rivals instruments at a considerably higher price point. Whether you're preparing for higher education conservatory requirements, tackling advanced repertoire, or seeking an instrument that grows with your musicianship, the Eastman Concertante Cello provides the quality and responsiveness you need without compromise.

Available in two patterns, the Stradivari and Montagnana models each draw from centuries of violin-making tradition. The Stradivari pattern, favoured by luthiers for its refined proportions, produces a slightly more feminine, lyrical tone with excellent projection and clarity. The Montagnana design, rooted in 18th-century Venetian craftsmanship, delivers a powerful and robust sound with darker warmth and greater depth. This choice of pattern fundamentally shapes the instrument's voice and playing feel, allowing musicians to select the tonal character that best suits their musical expression and repertoire.

We pair the Eastman Concertante with two different setups. The standard configuration features Larsen Aurora Strings, which deliver a bright, responsive tone with excellent clarity and projection—ideal for players developing their sound and exploring a wider dynamic range. For those seeking a more refined, warm response with greater depth and sustain, we offer an upgrade to Larsen Original Strings. No matter which you choose, you can be assured that each instrument is professionally set up by our luthier, ensuring optimal bridge positioning, soundpost adjustment, and overall instrument voicing for maximum tonal potential. Of course, we can adjust either setup to any preference or requirement you may have.

Bow and case are sold separately, though we can build a complete outfit tailored to your specific needs.
